Punjab Letters of Administration and Succession Certificates amendment Act 2025

Key changes include allowing civil courts to also issue Letters of Administration or Succession Certificates, by following the Succession Act, 1925, and the omission of Section 10 of the original 2021 Act. 
 
Key changes in the amendment
  • Civil Court Jurisdiction: The amendment adds “or a civil court” after “Authority” in Section 3, granting civil courts the authority to issue these certificates.
  • Procedure: It specifies that if a civil court handles the application, it must follow the procedure outlined in the Succession Act, 1925.
  • Omission of Section 10: Section 10 of the 2021 Act, which likely dealt with objections to the issuance of certificates, has been removed.
  • Purpose: The primary goal of this amendment is to make the process more accessible and less difficult for the people of Punjab.
